“Game changer for UK motor trade .”
Introduction:
Google's Vehicle Ads format is set to launch in the UK later this year, according to Google UK's automotive industry manager, Ben Gault.
The advertising solution, which has already been rolled out in the US, Canada and Australia, allows individual car dealer vehicle listings to appear in Google search results.
The ads will appear at the top of searches, displaying information about the cars, and a feed will be taken directly from a dealer's website, rather than from Auto Trader or other advertising marketplaces.
Gault said the ads had been successful in other markets where they had launched, and would provide a dynamic, real-time feature that would complement traditional text PPC ads.
The launch of the format in the US last year was prompted by a shift in car buying habits, as consumers increasingly conduct research and make purchases online.
Google's Vehicle Ads will provide another touch point and meet consumer expectations, Gault said, and would enable dealers to provide a feed of their stock, as they do for other advertising platforms.
It has taken time for the format to come to fruition in Europe, he added. In his keynote session at Car Dealer Live, Gault also discussed the changing used car buying journey for consumers and the importance of an omnichannel buying journey in the industry's development.
