Land Rover's Discovery Sport Tops Profit Chart for UK Used Car Dealers in May 2023
Land Rover's Discovery Sport emerged as the most profitable used car for dealers in May 2023, with an average retail margin of £4,150, according to data from Dealer Auction.
The Mazda CX-5, on the other hand, was the quickest-selling used car, with an average selling time of 23 days.
Dealer Auction has introduced two new metrics, 'Average Auto Trader days to sell' and 'Average Auto Trader Retail Rating,' to provide dealers with more insights into the profitability of their stock.
Although the Discovery Sport topped the profit chart, the new metrics revealed that lower-ranked models, like the Mazda CX-5, could be more suitable stock due to their faster selling time and higher retail rating.
Dealer Auction emphasised the importance of a balanced stock mix that includes both quick-selling options and higher-profit opportunities.
Land Rover, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz emerged as the top three brands with the highest average retail margins. The inclusion of these new metrics offers dealers a valuable layer of intelligence to optimize profit potential by identifying stock with the best individual return and faster turnover.
