According to new figures from CarCondor.co.uk, the UK's Top 200 used car dealers experienced a decline in sales during April. The data reveals that sales of second-hand cars saw a notable increase of 10.54 percent, reaching a total of 159,478 units. However, there was a significant drop in revenue, with the Top 200 dealers collectively earning £3.39 billion from used car sales, compared to £3.81 billion in March.
The most significant decrease was observed in new stock, which plummeted by nearly 19 percent compared to the previous month. The number of new cars available for sale fell from 198,035 units to 160,814 units. These figures indicate a reversal of the positive trends seen in March, when sales rose by 6.8 percent and revenues increased by over ten percent.
Despite the overall decline, Arnold Clark maintained its position as the most stocked dealer on the list of 200, with 25,844 second-hand cars in stock, representing a rise from the previous month's 24,690. Marshall held onto second place with 9,071 cars, while Evans Halshaw secured second and third positions with 8,573 and 7,916 used cars in stock, respectively.
Among the online disruptors in the market, Cinch climbed one place to ninth position with 4,620 cars in stock, while Cazoo remained in 11th place with 4,529 cars available. The Mazda CX-5 retained its position as the fastest-selling used car among the Top 200 dealers, while the Ford Fiesta maintained its status as the top-selling car.
